Reed’s father starts his biochemical career. The family leave South Africa and move to the UK. Rashid is offered a government subsidy to move his business to Abergavenny, Wales. The company grows and the family move to a larger house. Reed is sent to boarding school. Rashid isn’t happy with Reed’s academic levels as he struggles with the boarding school regime. Patrice recollects Reed’s dreams of being in prison. Reed becomes a house prefect. He dyes his hair for the ball which has disastrous repercussions with the headmaster and Rashid.
